I am Marianne.

I am a princess by birth.

I never sing about being dissatisfied with my station.

I have goals and ambitions of diplomacy for my kingdom.

I didn’t wallow through my heartache, I worked through it.

I taught myself how to fight without ever pretending to be male.

I chose and kept my own look and style.

I can give and take a hit. 

I set off alone on a quest to save another princess, my own sister.

I challenged the ‘villain’ and dueled him to a standstill.

I romanced no prince, but a king; someone above even my own rank.

I love him based on mutual respect and understanding, not looks.

I am loved in return for exactly who I am.

I can like swords and farts jokes, and also flowers and makeup.

I never needed to be kissed awake from a coma.

I didn’t solve my problems through tears, magic, or wishes. 

 Disney pretends I don’t exist.

Marianne really should be one of the Disney princesses.

As far as I’m concerned, she is.
